A Message from Summer
Are you interested in sharing your writing in other ESL blogs? For more information, see below.

Hello,
One of your students, Christina, enthusiastically selected my site as a Favorite ESL site! I was very honored.
I was wondering: What is the full name of their school - "NCU" - and where is it located?
Also, would your students like to each chose a piece of writing they did in English, for me to post on my site -- so that others can enjoy their work? I have been looking for student writing to post and share.
I am an ESOL certified teacher. I have a new blog where you can post their work if they want to share it, and you can write back to me if you like: CLICK HERE.
I am guessing you are their teacher. If not, please let their teacher know I wrote this message. Thanks!
Have a great day! :)

m.y., thank you for sharing my message with your students! I wrote a new post to them HERE.
Gina, thank you for the following two questions or suggestions on this weblog:
1. Why don't you and your students blog in Chinese to help those who want to learn English in Taiwan?
2. Why don't you collect and integrate all of your students' work in a group blog or a website?
I think ESL blogs serve different purposes and reflect appropriateness to differences among learners' English proficiency, learning styles, motivation, etc. The OEL course is offered in English, i.e., using English is one of the pedagogical decisions. The purpose is to encourage students to learn and communicate through the English language for their life-long English learning and to reach out to bloggers across cultures.
Indeed, students and I have capitalized on our weblogs both in and out of the classroom. However, students and I did not put all of the course materials on the weblogs. Neither did we use weblogs as resources integration centers. There are some reasons. First, weblogs might not be efficient in fulfilling these two specific uses. Instead I chose to display selected pieces of student work. Second, content developers and blog users might interpret weblogs in different ways at different stages. In this sense, the weblogs play different roles at different stages of development.
Nevertheless, many students in the OEL class have searched and found content relevant to topics of English learning and teaching, and have shared their online learning experiences, which will help other learners to learn English. They also might be willing to be monitored and evaluated, which allow others'(teachers, students, or bloggers) diagnostic assessment of their learning ITO problem-solving, communication and collaboraion, English reading and writing, creativity and production, etc.
I wish you had been in my Online English Learning classes. The OEL class discussed many ideas about using blogs or other technologies in the EFL classroom. For example, we shared diverse views about similarities and differences between weblogs and traditional ESL websites.
BTW, I visited your blog for the "English Bible Study" class. You are blogging in both English
and Chinese, aren't you? Keep up with your good work. I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
